The MCFA Annals - An Introduction

The Marie Curie Fellowship Association (MCFA)

About 6,000 researchers have been supported by European Community research grants, since their creation in 1958. Throughout this period, grants have been allocated through many different programmes under various European research policies. In 1996 it was decided to create a common denomination, the "Marie Curie fellowship", to provide a distinctive identity for all the fellows.
The Marie Curie Fellowship Association is an association of scientists who are completing or have already completed a Marie Curie fellowship. The main goal of this association is to strengthen the identity of Marie Curie fellows as excellent European researchers, namely to:

Marie Curie Fellowships Annals

The Marie Curie Fellowships Annals is intended as a yearly scientific publication of the Marie Curie Fellowship Association. Its objective is to assist the Marie Curie Fellowship Association to achieve its aims and to promote the scientific advancements made by Marie Curie fellows in the following fields: The Editorial Committee of the Annals, which benefits from a close co-operation with "Science" Magazine, has published the first issue of the Annals in late 1999. The Annals aims to publish every year two articles per scientific discipline in each issue, in order to demonstrate the high quality research performed by past and present Marie Curie Fellows.

Aims of the Annals

The Annals of the Marie Curie Fellowship Association will compile highlights of the research developed and conducted by Marie Curie fellows during their fellowships, and provide a platform for young European researchers to independently present their work to a wide interdisciplinary audience. It also aims to integrate science-directed and industry-directed research, thus linking fundamental and applied research more closely together.
