Introduction
The Annals of the Marie Curie Fellowship Association are an interdisciplinary publication, aimed at a readership covering a wide variety of scientific fields. The annals have been published for the first time in 2000 (for the web version, publication of more than 2000 paper versions are ongoing).
The Annals of the Marie Curie Fellowship Association compile highlights of the research developed and conducted by Marie Curie Fellows during their fellowships, and provide a platform for young European researchers to independently present their work to a wide interdisciplinary audience. It is also aimed to integrate science-directed and industry-directed research, thus linking fundamental and applied research closer together.
Original contributions are welcomed from both present and past Marie Curie Fellows (registered or not with the MCFA). The content of contributions should be related to the author's Marie Curie Fellowship project.
The Marie Curie Fellowships Annals are of great importance not only for the MCFA, as it helps to show the scientific dynamism of our members but also to prove during this organisational difficult period that we are still active. It will also be a tremendous publicity for you as the Annals will be available to our sponsors and scientific partners.
Criteria
Please take into account that papers published in the "Annals of the MCFA" must fulfil the following criteria:
- The presented research must contain relevant contributions to the field to which it belongs. The paper should briefly present the state-of-the-art, addressing its crucial issues and clarifying how the research carried out by the author contributes to them.
- The paper must be based on a strong research background, with consistent results.
- The papers must be written in a way easily understandable for non-specialists, but at the same time in a scientifically rigorous manner.
- It will be allowed to widely refer to previous papers by the author, but not to transcribe, copy or rewrite papers (in full or partially) that have already been published.
- Interdisciplinary papers are strongly encouraged.
Paper Formatting
Your paper should be prepared as a scientific manuscript (but for a broader audience encompassing your own topic. We are expecting papers of circa 6 typed pages (double spaced, Police: Times Roman 12; not including tables, figures and references). This paper could be based on a previously published paper but you should let us know in this case where and how it has been previously published to check any copyright details.
Please follow the following formatting:
- Title in capital letters, bold, centred
- Author(s): full first names and full family names mentioning (on a footnote) which one(s) is/are/were Marie Curie fellows (bold and centred)
- Addresses for all co-authors (italic centred)
- Abstract (bold, centred)
- Keywords: no more than 5
- Then Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements (please include both, your Marie Curie Fellowship contract number and, if you are a MCFA member, your membership number), References, tables and Figures
Procedure
The publication procedure will be as follows:
- Author submits full paper, equivalent to a 6 pages journal paper.
In order to conform to the formatting explained above, please
use the following tools:
The paper should be submitted to the sub-editor responsible for
your topic in the Editorial Team.
- The coordinating editor gives a YES/NO answer, with suggestions for small modifications (no major differences between the submitted paper and the final version will be accepted). Three papers per panel will be accepted. At least one of these papers will have to be interdisciplinary and will appear under the virtual panel: interdisciplinary.
- The editorial committee will decide on the final selection and last details of the publication, depending on editorial matters (finance, deadlines, etc.).
- Immediately after the decision all authors will be notified. They will have to send their paper to a publishing company (which is yet to be decided on). This company will be in charge of the verification of the format of the paper. Papers that do not conform to the format defined for the annals will not be published.
