Volume 4 - CALL FOR PAPERS

Introduction

The Annals of the Marie Curie Fellowships are an interdisciplinary publication, aimed at a readership covering a wide variety of scientific fields. The annals have been published in 2000, 2002 and 2004. They are supported by the European Commission and they are available both in electronic and printed versions.

The Annals of the Marie Curie Fellowships focus on the research developed and conducted by Marie Curie and RTNs Fellows during or after their fellowships, and provide a platform for young European researchers to independently present their work to a wide interdisciplinary audience. They are also aimed to integrate science-directed and industry-directed research, thus linking fundamental and applied research closer together.
Therefore, the Annals constitute a unique opportunity for the young researchers to review cutting-edge, high-quality fundamental and applied research in Europe.

Original contributions are welcome from both present and past Marie Curie Fellows (registered or not with the MCFA). The content of contributions should be related to the author's Marie Curie Fellowship project or to a subsequent development.

Criteria

Papers published in the "Annals of the MCFs" must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. The research presented must contain relevant contributions to the field to which it belongs. The paper should briefly and clearly review the current state-of-the-art, address important issues and present the entire contents of a research project.
  2. The paper must be based on a strong research background, with consistent results.
  3. The papers must be written in a way easily understandable for non-specialists, but at the same time in a scientifically rigorous manner.
  4. It will be allowed to widely refer to previous papers by the author, but not to transcribe, copy or rewrite papers that have already been published.
  5. Interdisciplinary papers are strongly encouraged.

Paper Formatting

Your paper should be prepared as a scientific manuscript (but for a broader audience encompassing your own topic). We are expecting papers of 4 to 6 typed pages. The paper can be based on previously published results but you should let us know in this case where and how they have been previously published to check any copyright details. In order to conform to the required formatting, please use the following tools:

Word: Template
OpenOffice: Template
LaTeX: Style File and Sample file

Procedure

The publication procedure will be as follows:
  1. Authors submit a detailed abstract (1-2 pages) to the editor responsible of your topic.
  2. Invitiation to submit a manuscript is based on scientific content and presentation of the material; membership in the Society is not a prerequisite for publication. Abstracts submitted under multiple authorship are reviewed with the understanding that all listed authors participate in the submission and that the final manuscript has been approved by all authors.
  3. The editors select the submitted abstracts.
  4. The authors whose abstract have been selected carefully prepare a full version of their paper, equivalent to about 6 printed pages in the journal. The paper should be submitted to the editor responsible for your topic in the Editorial Team. At this time, the authors of research articles are also required to disclose any potential conflict of interest.
  5. The Editor/Associate Editor selects the reviewers, corresponds with the author, and makes the final decision on the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript.
  6. After final acceptance of the manuscript, the coordinating editor performs a check and a screening of the papers, with suggestions for small modifications (no major differences between the submitted paper and the final version will be accepted).
  7. The final version of the papers has to be sent and as electronic file (pdf AND doc or tex) to deandrea@mariecurie.org
  8. Remember that the paper should be formatted according to the requirements as the electronic file will go directly to publication after reviewing.

For ALL other communication refer directly to the Editorial Team member responsible for your topic.
