Research Associate, Women's and Family Health Research Group, King's College, London

Applications are invited for the position of Research Associate to work within the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery at King's College London. The School has a position to offer within the field of women's health and midwifery. The programme of research in women's health and midwifery is directed towards: a) understanding the processes of maternity care and their relationship to health outcomes for women and infants and b) the social and ethical implications of innovative
reproductive technologies for health professionals and women.

The post is ideal for those with research interests in the above. It will involve the analysis and publication of findings from existing datasets, and assisting in the writing and preparation of research grant proposals and pilot work. The posts require excellent facilitation and communication skills, personal maturity, flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team. Appropriate post-graduate qualifications and/or research experience will be essential. Literature retrieval and review skills will also be required. The post would suit a researcher with a women's health/midwifery background and a good knowledge of a range of social science/epidemiological research methods. Applications from other suitably qualified applicants may also be considered. The post is fixed-term for 24 months, to commence in January 2004. Salary will be on the RA1A scale, currently £20,399 to £29,473 per annum (inclusive of £2,134 per annum London Allowance).

The Women's and Family Health Research Group is situated within the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery, King's College, London. It has a focus on multi-disciplinary research drawing on a social science perspective.
