Re: [mcfa-career] submitting to several funds for the same project

Hi Leonid,
Very interesting point. I think there is nothing wrong with providing all information required - you will stay out of trouble at least. These things may be difficult to hide, the scientific world is small. I do not think this decreases your chances, it may even be considered positive. For projects it is in general easier to require additional funding if you already have one secured. Of course, if the grants are mutually exclusive, you should refuse one, but nobody will be angry for that.
Good luck, Erik.

Subject: [mcfa-career] submitting to several funds for the same project

Hello everybody-
I need an advice from someone who had experience with submitting to several grantmakers for the same fellowship. Our intent is to secure funding for a short-term visit and so try several funds like FEBS and EMBO simultaneously. The point is each application form asks whether documents have been submitted to an alternative place for the same project.. Somehow I suspect it might couse unwanted delays or red tape in the future when the fellowship is awarded by either of the organizations. But I don't know for sure. Did somebody have troubles from concealing such info or, on the other hand, credulously providing it?

thanks much and take care

Leo
