forwarded message: ================================================================== HWWA Hamburg Institute of International Economics MIGRATION RESEARCH GROUP Two PhD Research Positions on Polish/Romanian Emigration The Migration Research Group (MRG), Hamburg Institute of International Economics, is recruiting two PhD students to work as research assistants on an EU sponsored project on East-West European migration. The positions would be best suited for PhD students who have just embarked on doctoral research, or are in an early stage of their PhD studies. The researcher should have the following experience/qualifications: - A Master's degree or equivalent in the social sciences, esp. sociology, social geography or anthropology. - Proven research experience on international migration. - Experience of empirical research methods, including interviews or surveys. - Fluency in Polish or Romanian (preferably mother tongue). - Excellent oral and written English skills; knowledge of German would be an advantage. - Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in an international team. Applications from female candidates are particularly welcome. The posts are half-time positions, for a duration of two years (1 September 2005 to 31 August 2007). They will be based in Hamburg, but involve travel to Poland or Romania.
