Research Assistant in Pure Mathematics

Starting 1.10.2005 a three year EPSRC-funded postdoctoral research
position is available in Pure Mathematics. The post is part of an
EPSRC-funded research project on Representation Theory, Geometric
Invariant Theory, and Buildings.
A strong background in the theory of Algebraic Groups, Lie Algebras,
and Geometric Invariant Theory is desirable.
The salary is roughly 22.000 Pounds per annum.

EPSRC PhD Studentships in Pure and/or Applied Mathematics

Up to three EPSRC-funded (DTG's) are available for UK-students at the
Department of Mathematics at the University of Leicester. Applicants
with interest in Pure and/or  Applied Mathematics related to the
research fields present at the Department are welcome. Information about
the Department, possible supervisors and research areas can be found at
http://www.math.le.ac.uk.

Funding
All applicants (UK-students) are eligible for the standard EPSRC stipend
of £12,000 for the first year, which will increase in the following years,
as well as for payment of all University fees.

Applicants profile
The successful applicant would have a 1st or upper 2nd class honour
degree, preferable a four year degree or an MSc, in Mathematics or related
areas.
