TITLE:            Herder Institute - Scholarship Programme
ABSTRACT:         The Herder Institute in Marburg offers grants for
short research stays at the institute to young researchers who are
concerned with research on culture and nations of Eastern Central Europe
(Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Baltic States), particularly on the
history of German settlement in this area. Priority is given to projects
with international cooperation with emphasize on the common culture and
history of the nations involved.

The duration of the stipend is three months, but can be prolonged up to
six months depending on the amount of material which will be used from the
inventory of the Herder Institute. Graduates and doctoral students are
funded with 950EUR per month, post-docs with 1.400EUR (month).
Additionally there is an allowance for health insurance (35EUR/month), a
further monthly sum of 51EUR as supplementary for research costs as well
as travel costs.

A good command of German and first research results in the above mentioned
field of research are required. Applicants from Central Eastern Europe are
in particular welcomed to take part, as the Herder Institute's aim is to
enhance cooperation with partners from this region. Closing date for
applications for a stay in the first half of the year 2006 is September
30th, 2005.
