Re: [mcfa-int] Intraeuropean fellowships-Negotiation

Dear Antonio,

I was involved in last year's call for proposals for Marie-Curie EIFs and
having had a successful outcome for my proposal we went through the
negotiations stage before signing the contracts and starting the fellowship.
I could just describe my experience. For something more official I guess you
could contact your national helpdesk.

Before I start let me just add that as far as I know the evaluation process is
slightly different this year with the two stages and therfore it may possibly
be faster than last year. However, last year official results were only
announced in mid-August. (I just checked cordis, they only have the results
from the first stage evaluation, so I guess the process has not finished
yet.) Negotiation started only then lasting for about a month.

I guess this process is mostly a typicality for this type of fellowship
(unless it turns out that your host institution is not eligible for hosting
you which I pretty much doubt) in contrast e.g. to network projects where the
negotiation stage means exactly what the word implies.

In particular, for the negotiations in EIFs, the applicant and the host
institute have to provide the commission with data that will determine the
total budget of the fellowship. From your side this will mostly involve
repetition of the data submitted in part A of your proposal. The scientist in
charge should do the rest from the home institute's point of view. Just make
sure he/she actually does it and of course in time.

Finally let me just caution you that the excel files the commission will send
you to fill in for the negotiation stage will need some special attention in
handling and in particular in saving the input data!

In summary I think that your absence will not harm your participation in the
negotiations as this lasts for about a month and it is done mostly
electronically between you, the host and the commission. Officially only the
host submits the final document.

I hope these help.

Cheers,

Spyros._
