[MCFA Int] Re: EMDS: career opportunities with leading companies

---- The International MCFA E-Mail List Server ----

Dear all,

With respect to the last message of Oliver Schwickerwath, I would like
to add a few comments.

First of all I would like to say that the taskforce set up is a very
interesting iniciative for all MCFA fellows oriented towards a
non-academic carrer once they have finished their fellowship, as is the
case of a large proportion of the (return)fellows in Spain. I have found
that it is more difficult to motivate these fellows to colaborate with
the association as the incentives that move foreign fellows(cultural
contact, fellow document...) do not work in their case and that they
have shown employment to be one of their main concerns.

I agree with Winfreid about the different approach and seeing that I am
a member of an academic institution perhaps I could participate in the
proposed taskforce. I assume, keeping in mind the tendency, that the
balance refered to above is that of a closer colaboration between and
convergence of the two.

Finally, a meeting of fellows in Madrid is to be held in the following
weeks and a larger national encounter is programmed towards the end of
March.

Regards,

C. Heller
